SCRN collects as little as it can. It uses what you tell it only to match you to programs and to help you track your applications. It does not sell your data or show you ads.
What SCRN collects
- Your email and password. The password is stored only in scrambled form by our login provider.
- Your birth month and year, never the day. Some programs have age rules, and SCRN cannot serve students under 13.
- Your country, and your state if you tell SCRN.
- Your answers to questions. Every one is optional. Household income is stored as a range, never an exact figure.
- Programs you save or apply to, and what you tell SCRN happened.
- Documents you choose to upload as proof of an award. Only you and the person checking them can open them.
- A referral code, if a school or group gave you one.
What SCRN does not do
- No ads, ad trackers or third party analytics on any page.
- No selling or renting your information to anyone.
- Usage counts, such as how many people finished the questions, are stored under a random code instead of your name or email.
Who else handles your data
SCRN uses three services to run. Each one handles your data only to provide its part.
- Supabase stores the database and runs sign in.
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Resend sends email. That means your sign up email, plus follow up and deadline reminders only if you turn them on.
Your choices
- Skip any question. Skipping never counts against you.
- Turn follow up and reminder emails on or off on your profile.
- A way to download or delete your data is not built yet. It is planned.
